The Economic Restructuring Committee sets out to identify how Downtown Ayden can capitalize on the millions of dollars that are leaving the Ayden community due to a lack of business offerings.While Ayden currently has a nice blend of businesses in the central business district; there still lacks a number of companies that if were available would add a great deal of money to be captured as a result of commerce.
2007-2008 goals established by the Economic Restructuring Committee:
Develop a market study to identify future opportunities for commerce in Downtown Ayden
Inventory downtown property and businesses
Develop a list of available properties for purchase or lease
Recruit specific types of businesses from outside Ayden to Downtown Ayden
2008-2009 goals include:
Continually updating Downtown Ayden available property inventory
Continue to recruit desirable businesses to the central business district
Work to implement one (1) re-development project
